Award winning Italian rye grass Haylage

To make our haylage the grass is cut and turned until it is approximately a day away from becoming hay. This ensures that it does not have too high a water content. It is then baled and immediatly wrapped and stacked and left to cure for 12 weeks.

The hay is barn stored on a ventilated floor that blows cool air through the hay to stave off heating or fungal formation after the hay has been stacked. This produces a consistent quality of hay throughout the stack.
